About our CSA: We (Siri & Jason) have been farming and CSA-ing in the Snoqualmie River Valley since 2007.  We grow a wide range of produce, from arugula to tomatoes to zucchini, with a special focus on carrots, lettuce, radicchio, and winter storage crops. We also have a close partnership with a former employee, Sam, who now has his own farm in the Skagit Valley. Sam grows the potatoes, onions, and green beans for our CSA with great skill and care.

Our annual crop plan centers around creating a well-balanced CSA box each week of the season. We aim to provide a mix of salad items, hearty greens, onions and garlic, fresh herbs, root vegetables, and seasonal delights like tomatoes, sweet peppers, cucumbers, winger squash and Brussels sprouts. You’ll get lots of the same user-friendly veggies week after week as long as they are in season, e.g. carrots, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, and cucumbers. We do grow some lesser known veg, like kohlrabi, radicchio, and purslane, but you’ll usually only see one or two different “oddities” each week.  June and July boxes include 6-8 different items, and will be heavy on lettuce, bunched greens, and other quick-growing cool season crops. August through November boxes are larger, with 8-10 items per week. Our boxes are intended to provide a manageable amount of produce for a household of two to four people that cooks dinner at home several nights a week.

Pickup sites: We have pickup locations all over Seattle, plus here at the farm and at our retail shop in downtown Duvall. Full list of sites is on our signup form.

Day/Time: Pickups are Tuesday afternoon/evening, usually between 3 and 8 or 9PM, with some small variations. Pickups in Duvall are on Wednesdays.

Payment options: You can pay with a paper check, Zelle, or online with credit card. We strongly prefer Zelle, a no-fee funds transfer to our bank account. For online credit card payments, there will be an extra charge to cover the 3% processing fee we incur.

Off weeks and prorating We do not offer vacation/prorating for weeks you may be out of town, but you are always encouraged to have a friend or neighbor adopt your box when you are away. If your absence is extended (3 consecutive weeks or more), please let me know and we can work something out.

Why join our CSA?

Happy CSA members: Each year, about 75% of our members re-join. Our year-end member survey consistently shows very high levels of satisfaction with our produce selection, quality, and value for price.

Just the right amount of produce: Our box size is a little smaller than most CSA offerings, with 8-12 different items each week. We promise to give you a good value for your dollar, but will never overwhelm you with excessive vegetables. Each week you’ll get a good mix of the best produce of the season, thoughtfully chosen to make cooking dinner easy.

Support our mission-driven farm: Besides growing the best possible produce, Siri and Jason are also dedicated to growing new farmers. Over the last 15 years, close to 20 Local Roots Farm employees have gone on to start their own farming operations. We offer a farm incubator program for employees, plus ongoing mentorship and support. Siri and Jason are also active in their service to the local food and farming community as board and committe members.
