Who We Are

Local Roots is a family-run vegetable farm in the Snoqualmie river valley, about 20 miles outside of Seattle. Wife and husband team Siri and Jason, along with a small crew of workers and apprentices, grow about twenty acres of vegetables, which we sell at Seattle-area farmers markets, through our Community Supported Agriculture subscription program, and to many fine restaurants.

Our Growing Practices

Local Roots strictly follows Organic growing practices, although we have opted not to participate in the National Organic certification program. We use only OMRI (list of acceptable products for Organic farms)-approved soil amendments and pest control practices, build soil fertility with cover crops and compost, control weeds with tractor and human powered tools, and accept a certain amount of crop loss due to pests, disease, and bad weather. We also emphasize farmworker quality of life, community-building, new farmer training, and holistic environmental stewardship. There’s more to sustainable farming than an Organic label, and we welcome your questions. If you want to know more about how we farm, please visit our farm blog.
